SHORT INTERRUPTIONS BEFORE WE CONTINUE is a tragicomic and absurd work that moves between movement and text and explores the “diagnosis of society”.

The idea is inspired by the article ”the diagnosis society” and ”Läkaren och konsten att avläsa kroppar” by Karin Johannisson and the piece questions and explore the diagnosis and norms within the psychiatric world today.

Thought the work we explore the boundaries between what so called truths and the unknown, between fiction and reality and between terms like madness and sanity. How do we librated ourselves from existing labelling and rewrite own story?

Short interruptions before we continue is a bold and norm critical game with diagnostics where new set of rules and relational structures are constantly being made up in a tryouts to both understand and connect to each other as well as to question and challenge ourselves and the audience sense of logic as we know it.

How can we recognize something in the unknown, when is a new sense of logic established?

The performance is exploring, twisting a turning different examination strategies used for determining metal instability and diseases that are described by Karin Johannisson in the book ”Läkaren och konsten att avläsa kroppar from the 1600 - century forward.

Studies and exploration of empathy and ”The Theater of anatomy” in Uppsala, was present elements during the process of the work.
Julia and the team shared a fascination for this place and the audience in the show are seated around the stage, mirroring each other, each others reactions and the performers throughout the whole performance- just like in the old theater.

Premiered 11th of January, Årsta Folkets Hus.
